Counseling Services

Welcome to the OHS Counseling Services Website

As school counselors, it is our belief that OHS students have many exciting possibilities, given all of the academic and personal resources available to them. We encourage students to get involved in their school community, as research shows that students who are connected to their school environment perform better and are therefore more successful.

The OHS Counseling Office is made up of 4 counselors and 2 secretaries. Counselors are divided by alphabetical split and work with families rather than individual grade levels.

OHS counselors provide a wide variety of services to address all students’ academic, career and personal/social needs.  School counselors are a liaison between many people and services involved in the student's educational path.

School counselors work with OHS students in many ways:  counseling with individual students as well as groups, classroom presentations, referrals to community agencies, course planning and scheduling, and career and college planning.

Please feel free to contact your counselor by stopping in the Counseling Department during a study hall or lunch, email, or phone.  Our number one goal is to help our students grow academically and personally to strive toward high school graduation and post-secondary success.

Effective school counseling programs are a collaborative effort between the school counselor, parents and other educators to create an environment that promotes student achievement. Staff and school counselors value and respond to the diversity and individual differences in our societies and communities. Comprehensive school counseling programs ensure equitable access to opportunities and rigorous curriculum for all  students to participate fully in the educational process..”
