Special Programs Review Announcement:

The New York State Education Department's Office of Special Education has initiated a Special Education Programs and Services Focused Review in the Oswego City School District during the 2016-2017 school year. The purpose of this review is to assess the district's compliance with selected federal and State laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities.

The review will be conducted by the Special Education Quality Assurance (SEQA) Central Regional Office. The review process will involve a review of school records of a representative sample of students with disabilities, classroom visitations and surveys. In addition, meetings of the committee on special education will be observed. Further information may be obtained by contacting the SEQA Central Regional Office at 315-428-4556 and/or by contacting Oswego City School District at 315-341-2000.

    Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) offers access to a full range of services that may be needed by persons with disabilities through their lives. Through its administration of special education, vocational rehabilitation and independent living programs, VESID coordinates policy and services relating to:

    special education services for students with disabilities (3-21); transition services for students with disabilities from school to adult services; vocational rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities, ages 16 and older; and independent living services for adults with disabilities. The seeds of adult success are sown during the school years. The system established by the Board of Regents to administer education and vocational services for people with disabilities fosters this and has evolved into a national model, designed to focus on our customers and produce results.
