Universal Pre-K Registration

Applications for the PreK Program are now available. This program is designed for children who were born between December 2, 2012 and December 1, 2013 and is offered at no cost. Children are selected by lottery. The UPK teachers and staff strive to create a warm and nurturing environment for all our 4-year olds. The goals of the program are to meet the individual needs of children in the areas of social, academic, language, emotional and physical development. This prepares them to successfully enter kindergarten the following year. We anticipate having one full-day session at Frederick Leighton School and half-day sessions at Charles E. Riley, Fitzhugh Park, Frederick Leighton, Kingsford Park and Minetto Schools. The program runs in conjunction with the regular school district calendar. There will be a maximum of 18 students in each class and the classes will be taught by a certified teacher and teaching assistant. Full-day runs 9 am - 3:15 pm; morning program are 9 am - 11:30 am and afternoon program are 12:45 pm - 3:15 pm. Transportation is offered both ways for full-day and partial transportation is offered for the half-day sessions. Students need to be 4 years old to ride the bus.
An open house will be held March 29, 2017 at all elementary schools from 6-7 pm. Children are welcome to accompany parents but are not required to attend. This is an opportunity for you to see the classroom and learn more about the UPK program. Applications are available at the Central Registration Office on the first floor of the Education Center. If you have questions, please call 341-2045.
