SCHOOL COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Relations With State University College at Oswego
Policy # 3130

The Board of Education encourages the cooperation of the District with the State University College at Oswego with regard to participation in various instructional programs to the mutual benefit of both parties.

 

         The College has the capacity to provide a number of services to the District, including, but not limited to the provision of volunteer student aides, assistants, tutors and interns in the following areas of study:

 

a)            Reading;

b)            Language Arts;

c)            Social Studies;

d)           Special Classes;

e)            Foreign Languages;

f)             English;

g)            Mathematics; and

h)            Technology.

 

         The District has the capacity to avail itself of services provided by the College including, but not limited to:        

 

a)            Student attendance at a variety of cultural activities; and

b)            Visits to:

 

1.      The college facilities and academic courses;

2.      The Penfield Library;

3.      Fallbrook;

4.      The Rice Creek Biological Field Station;

5.      The Planetarium; and

6.      Other points of interest.

 

         The District and the College may cooperate in endeavors including, but not limited to:

 

a)            Trial certification project;

b)            Workshops;

c)            Inservice training programs; and

d)           Other endeavors which shall be of mutual benefit to the College and the District.

 

         The Superintendent of Schools is authorized, upon the recommendation from the instructional staff and approval of the Board of Education, to increase the scope of cooperating services with the College.
