Naming School Facilities
Policy # 3160
The Board of Education may exercise discretion in selecting the name for a school building or facility.
In choosing a name for a new school or other facility the Board should be guided by considerations of good taste, concern for public relations and a sense of historical appropriateness. Consideration may be given to historical figures of local or national importance, district geography, former school officials or staff, or the involvement of a particular individual in the planning or construction of the facility.
The Board may solicit input from the staff, students, parents and the community in connection with its decision.
The Board may permit the erection or placing of an appropriate plaque or memorial at the facility.
