Beginning in October, I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a "Mystery Reader" this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class. Mystery Readers will visit us on Fridays at 2:45 each week. Readers are asked to bring a favorite book to read. If a book is needed, I can provide one from our classroom library.
If you can find a date that works for you, please sign up to be a Mystery Reader for the 2009-2010 school year! There are many open dates to choose from throughout the year.
I will send home a list of the dates that are available. Please indicate at least three dates (if possible) that will work for you so that I can accommodate the most people. You can either e-mail me your preferred dates or send your top three choices in a "top secret" envelope to school with your child. I will get back to you as soon as I can to confirm your official Mystery Reader date.
Remember, you are a mystery to the class, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try not to tell your child when you will be coming! Please drop me a "secret" note or email if you have any further questions. We can’t wait to meet our Mystery Readers!
Mystery Readers will visit our classroom on Fridays...however, there are a few Thursdays on the schedule during weeks that we are not in school on Friday. I will send a reminder to you during the week of your chosen date, asking you to write five facts about yourself that will be used as clues for the students to help them guess who will be reading to the class.
Here is a sample set of clues that a Mystery Reader might write:
