KPS hosts Kindergarten CelebrationSome of Kingsford Park Elementary School’s youngest students recently celebrated the end of their kindergarten school year, a mark that will forever be imprinted in their Oswego City School District education.
The recent “Play, Learn and Grow…Together!” event, held in the Oswego High School auditorium, showcased the character, academic and related lessons learned in the classroom throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Together, the 56 graduates led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance before they belted out a number of fun, friendly songs they had learned. “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!” about the alphabet, “Oh, When My Parents Give me a Hug,” “God Bless the U.S.A.,” and “A…B…Cya Later!” were some of the crowd favorites.
Each student’s career goal, such as a veterinarian, police officer, firefighter and hairdresser, was displayed on the OHS theater walls next to their photograph and a special balloon to take home. The blue and silver star balloons on stage signified what stars KPS kindergartners have been throughout the current school year.
After all of the fun, the kindergarten graduates were presented with their diplomas as they shook hands with their teacher and Principal Mary Volkomer before they were surprised by their teachers with a KPS kindergarten slideshow.
