Happy New Year!
2019 here we come! Hope everyone had a relaxing holiday season and had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. It is hard to believe how quickly the first 4.5 months of school have gone!
As we enter January and may now get some REAL OSWEGO WINTER WEATHER please remember the following. Your child should be coming to school dressed for the weather; summer/spring clothes are not really appropriate at this time and they should plan to wear a coat, hat, mittens/gloves. We do not open the doors of OMS until 7:25 (with the exception of our breakfast students who are allowed in at 7:15); if you are dropping your son/daughter off please do not plan to drop them off much before 7:25.
We have a ‘Student Drop Off Zone’ at the West end of our building. This is where students should be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. Please DO NOT stop on the North or South side of Mark Fitzgibbons Drive to drop off your child and please DO NOT pull into the faculty parking lot to drop off your child. The morning and afternoons at OMS are extremely busy and heavy with traffic, the addition of snow and ice makes it that much more challenging. Our #1 goal at OMS is to keep everyone safe – this begins with drop off in the morning and ends once your child is picked up in the afternoon.
If you do not have the appropriate winter clothing that fits your child please feel free to contact us at the Main Office or the nurse’s office. We have received many donations of ‘like new’ clothing that we could give to your child. If you have any clothes that no longer fit your child that you would like to donate to OMS to share with others that are in need please contact us or drop the clothing off at the Main Office or the Nurse’s Office.
We have been actively promoting our OMS School Pride Program at OMS this year thanks to the help of Mrs. Kelli Proulx and Ms. Melissa Russell our OMS building facilitators and ‘Once a Buc Always a Buc’ Club Advisors. Teachers and staff have worked hard to recognize students for regularly ‘doing the right thing’ in class, in the hallways, in the café, etc. As part of our School Pride efforts at OMS each student in the building received a certificate at the end of the 1st quarter with Buc ‘BUCS’ they have earned for attendance, good behavior and academics.
NEW this year we are recognizing all students in our building (with a letter and a certificate) each quarter that achieve perfect attendance, pass all classes and demonstrate self–control and good behavior at all times. Additionally, 4 students from each team were selected by their teachers and counselors to be highlighted in a display case located in our main hallway for the 1st Quarter. Congratulations to students who have already were recognized 1st Quarter in the ‘School Pride’ Display Case:
