Happy New Year 2019

Minetto Elementary News
January 2019

Dear Minetto Families,

Minetto Elementary is looking forward to 2019 and all of the exciting learning opportunities that are planned for our students!

Each Wednesday for the rest of the school year will be a “Minetto Way Wednesday”.  On Wednesdays, everyone is encouraged to wear Buc Blue and celebrate our students and staff as we continue to share The Minetto Way message with our students as we teach them more about what it means to be respectful and responsible problem solvers.

Homework Club will be starting soon for students in grades 3 - 6.  If you are interested, please fill out the form sent home and return it to school by January 18, 2019.

I wish you all joy in the New Year!

Happy 2019,
Mrs. Sullivan

Two options for Arrivals and Dismissals 2019

We have been experiencing some safety problems during arrivals and dismissals.  Please review the two options for helping your children enter and exit the building.
The safety of our students is the most important goal during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. We all have the responsibility to see that every child is safe. In addition, we need to keep traffic moving to facilitate student arrival and dismissal in a timely way.
Stop and Drop Park and walk
  • Stay in the loop, moving forward
  • Children exit or enter the car on their own
  • Traffic continues to move
  • Park in a parking space
  • Use the yellow lined area to walk with your child to or from the main entrance

Reminders for 2019

Visiting Minetto Elementary

When visiting or volunteering in a classroom, please remember to bring your license so that you can be signed in to the Raptor system. We will not need your license if your just dropping something off.

Contacting Teachers

If you need to contact your child’s teacher, please follow the prompts that are available to you on the phone message system.  You can enter your child’s teacher’s voicemail extension to leave a message . They will return your call as soon as possible.

Leaving School Early/Dismissal Notes

In the event you need to pick up your child early from school, please send a note to school with your child.  The note should include the child's first and last name, parent and teacher’s names, reason for leaving and the pick up time. It is important to write a reason for tardy absent or early pickups. This is needed for documentation.

School Messenger

OCSD will utilize the SchoolMessenger System, SMS,  to deliver text messages regarding school events, closings, 2 hour delays, and early/emergency closings.  You can participate in this service by sending a text message response of “Yes” or “Y” to our short code number, 67587 when the first message is sent on January 11, 2019.  The SMS will ensure you get faster information about the closing and your child will get to where they need to go in a timely manner.

It is also important to keep the school up to date with any changing phone numbers.   If you need to, please send a note in with your child with any new or updated information.
