TOP TEN COMMUNICATION ITEMS PARENTS SHOULD KNOW AS WE PLAN TO REOPEN OUR SCHOOLS

COMING SOON - Parent Square Portal Survey - Before sending your child(ren) to school each morning, parents, this year you will be asked to complete an online health
screening - survey through our new Parent Square Portal. This portal will ask basic health screening questions.

lf parents do not complete this survey each morning, they will be contacted to ensure that this information is shared with the school. Details about this new portal are forthcoming. Parents will receive additional information in the coming weeks. Also, if a student has a temperature of 100 degrees or more when checked at the bus stop or when dropped off, the parent will be asked to come to take their child home.

Supplies - ln an effort to ensure the health and safety of students and staff, parents and/or guardians should not send students to school with school supplies and book bags this school year. The district will provide any necessary school supplies your child needs in school. However, parents and/or guardians can send students to school with lunch boxes or bags and a water bottle.

Hours of Instruction - K-12 teacher assignment letters have been mailed to all parents and/or guardians. lf you have not received your child's assignment letter, please contact your child's school for this information. Teachers will be contacting families next week to share instructional schedules and passwords. We are asking that parents and/or guardians assist the district by having their children online each day, ready to participate in their instructional program.

Mask Requirements - Students, staff and visitors will be required to use a mask when entering any of our buildings. Throughout the school day, students will be given mask breaks, as required by NYSED and the NYSDOH guidance.

Personnel Protection Equipment - The district has secured PPE for all students and staff. Students and staff are allowed to come to school and/or our buildings wearing their own mask or PPE. Should a student or staff member come without a mask, the district will provide one.

Technology - The district is providing a device and wireless hotspot for all students who will need one. lf you have not signed up for a device, you will need to contact your school. Please be advised, if you have not requested a device there is a wait list, due to unforeseen shipment delays. When our order arrives, we will be sure to provide the equipment to your child(ren) as soon as possible.

Temperature Checks - When arriving at school, staff, students and visitors will be required to have their temperature checked, Staff and visitors will need to respond to a brief COVID questionnaire.

Walkers and Drop Off - Upon arrival at school each day, walkers and students who are dropped off by parents will have a designated area at their schools to enter their school buildings. Building principals will be providing this information to parents in the near future.

Social Distancing - The district is asking parents to escort their children to school or to school bus stops, if possible, and monitor them until the school bus arrives. When this is not possible, we ask that parents reinforce with their child(ren) the need to socially distance themselves while walking to school and/or standing at a bus stop.

Online support for parents and students - The district will be providing online support for parents and students throughout the year. Whenever you have a question about how to use district technology or platforms please feel free to contact us at 31 5-341-2051.

ln addition this year, we will be providing support through multiple technology broadcasts. These broadcasts will begin airing on the district television station, WBUC, beginning September 11,2020, at 5 PM. We will also be airing them on the WBUC Youtube channel that can be found at the following URL:
https://www.youtube.com/c/wbucny. Our goal is to support the community's use of technology to meet the educational needs of our students.

We hope that this information will be of assistance to our parents, students and community, as we continue to move forward with reopening our schools.

Yours in education,

Dr. Mathis Calvin III
Superintendent of Schools
