Letter: State announces staff testing protocols

September 3, 2021

Dear Oswego CSD Community,

On yesterday, Sept. 2, 2021, New York State released new guidance for the  reopening of schools this fall. Due to increased challenges and urgency for controlling the spread of COVID-19 and because much of the student population are not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination, part of the new requirements are as follows:
  • Weekly screening for staff: Fully vaccinated individuals may opt-out of the mandatory weekly screening testing upon providing vaccination documentation.
The Oswego City School District will follow appropriate safety protocols and implement screening testing at a date determined by the Oswego County Health Department as they work to coordinate implementation and build testing capacity.

Diagnostic testing will continue to be required for staff and students who are symptomatic or asymptomatic following exposure to COVID-19 regardless of vaccination status.

In the near future we will be in touch with the community to provide additional information.

Yours in Education,

Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
