BOE: Superintendent search is underway
March 3, 2023Dear Oswego City School District Community,
We are writing to update the community on our upcoming leadership transition process. The Board of Education has chosen to work with our Oswego County BOCES District Superintendent Christopher Todd to both find an interim superintendent and to run the search for a full-time superintendent. Mr. Todd knows our district well and has worked with us on past searches. Ideally, we will have a new superintendent in place for the next school year.
Please know as we are moving through this process, we are working to make sure we find the right person to lead our district and want to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. In the meantime, we have a solid foundation and very capable staff and leaders to guide our district.
The new superintendent will come into a district guided by a strategic plan that was created by our greater OCSD community – teachers, staff, administrators and parents – that clearly lays out our priorities and goals and gives us a framework moving forward. Our district’s leadership team is strong, as are our excellent teachers and staff, who will continue to work with our students to meet the same learning goals they’ve had all year.
In the next month, as we head into the search process, we will be reaching out using an anonymous survey tool, ThoughtExchange, which will assist us with better understanding the qualities and priorities that our community is looking for in our future superintendent.
While this survey is being developed, community members may submit any question they have to the Board of Education via the district website, oswego.org/board (just scroll down to the “Board of Education Community Questions” link) or to individual Board members utilizing their email addresses which are provided below.
In the near future, we will be in contact to share more details about who will be leading the district while we work through this process. We thank you in advance for your patience as we work through this important task.
