OCSD Superintendent Search Process Underway

Dear members of the Oswego City School District community:

This letter is to update the community on the superintendent search and the committee makeup for the finalist interviews.

Search Timeline

The brochure describing the Superintendent search and our school district has been published. The schedule below will be fluid depending on the response to our search. If the quality and size of our candidate pool is insufficient we may extend the search. We want to make sure we get the best candidate for our district.

Superintendent application closing date:  Friday, April 14
Superintendent candidate review: immediately following submissions
Thought exchange closes:  Sunday, April 23

Search committee applications accepted:  to April 30
Selection of the search committee:  Tuesday, May 2
Search committee orientation: TBD

Semi-finalist interviews:  TBD
Finalist interviews and site visits: TBD (early May)
Committee feedback due:  48 hours after interview
Superintendent selected by the Board of Education:  by June 1

Search Committee

A search committee composed of a range of stakeholders from the community will meet with finalists and provide feedback to the Board of Education.  This group is large (30 members total) and will be divided into two interview sessions with 15 participants, a moderator, and the candidate in each.  We want to balance getting a range of input with being able to have quality time talking with the finalists.

The committee will be constituted as follows:
Board member (one moderator for each session): 2
Cabinet members (one for each session): 2
Community members (two for each session): 4
Home & School Executive Board member (one for each session): 2
Parents of current OCSD students (two for each session): 4
Principals (one for each session): 2
Teachers (three for each session): 6
Students: OHS Student Council co-President and Vice President or designees (two for each session): 4
Support staff (two for each session): 4
Union leader (one for each session): 2

Search Committee Selection Process

Committee members will be selected randomly.  Each applicant has a number and we will use a random number generator to select from the applicants for each category.  Please note, however, that we will do a final review to make sure that we are drawing as broad a representation across the community as possible.

How do I apply to be on the search committee?  Click this link to a google form to indicate your interest.

Sincerely,

Lisa M. Glidden, Board President
Tom Ciappa, Board Vice President
David Crisafulli, Board Member
Pamela Dowd, Board Member
