Leighton Elementary Wins Grant for STEM Programing

FLS receiving STEM-focused grantLeighton Elementary School has been chosen by the Terra Science and Education Organization as a recipient for a STEM-focused grant. This grant money will allow STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programing to be integrated into the curriculum at each grade level. Students will utilize the scientific method for problem solving and engage in hands-on activities that will enhance their skill set for using technology. Some program highlights that will be offered include: a closed aquatic ecosystem, a planetarium projector, a balloon-car racing activity, a simple machines kit, a standing wave demonstrator, ice melting blocks, and an animal classification study kit. All STEM-focused activities will align to the Science and Technology learning standards. This is an exciting opportunity for the students and faculty at Leighton Elementary. Everyone is excited for these upcoming activities to begin!
