OHS Key Club transforms hallways for holiday surprise

OHS Key Club members decorated more than 70 classroom doors for the holidaysIt wasn’t easy for members of the Oswego High School Key Club to keep their secret holiday project under wraps but last week, the Key Club finally unveiled their schoolwide surprise for their faculty and staff.
Over one weekend, Key Club members decorated more than 70 classroom doors with a personalized touch for each occupant using information collected by students and the group’s advisor, Gretchen Fronk.
“It’s all about leadership and serving and a sense of giving back at the holidays,” said Fronk.
Key Club is the oldest and largest student-led service program for high school students in the nation and is a partner of the Oswego Kiwanis Club. Each year, the OHS Key Club sponsors charitable causes and efforts towards its mission of making the world a better place through service and leadership.
Senior Sheyenne Lacey was one of more than a dozen Key Club members canvassing the OHS hallways with wrapping paper, themed cutouts and other decorative items and said she hoped come Monday, teachers “would be amazed by what they find.”
“We wanted for Christmas to bring everyone together with a happy and fun project,” said Lacey.
The doors were designed with each specific teacher in mind, having been polled about their favorite aspects of the holidays and their favorite holiday song.
