A brand-new playground awaits smiling faces, eager minds and energetic spirits for the 2022-2023 school year at Fitzhugh Park School in the Oswego City School District.
Fitzhugh Park School Principal Amy Molloy-Behnke and Dr. Lisa Glidden, president of the OCSD Board of Education, have invited Fitzhugh Park School faculty, students and local dignitaries to be on hand to celebrate the completion of the school’s new playground with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 16.
Funding for the school playground was provided by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, in a $250,000 heritage grant to the Research Foundation of SUNY for the Oswego ...

Dear OCSD parents and guardians,
I am happy to report that the previously announced power-related concern has been resolved and we are moving forward with plans to have all our summer programs as originally planned tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.
All programming, including the elementary and OMS enrichment programs, OHS summer school, the extended school year and summer feeding programs, will go forward as intended Monday. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this reversal, but we wanted to offer these invaluable services that many depend on if it was possible.

The Oswego City School District Board of Education will be conducting two board member training workshops on July 21, one at 8:00 a.m. and on at 5:00 p.m. The workshop at 8:00 a.m. is for new board member training and will be held in the Superintendent's Office, located at the Education Center at 2 Buccaneer Blvd, Oswego, NY 13126. I am writing this evening regarding an alleged event that was reported to the district in late May. This incident involved an Orbeez Gel Ball Blaster. This blaster, when utilized, is able to project small gel balls and/or water beads.
While this blaster is considered a toy by some, it has been considered to be a weapon by others and is a violation of the district’s Code of Conduct.

Dear Oswego CSD Community,
I am writing to share that at last nights Board of Education meeting the Boards accepted my recommendation to appoint Ms. Amy Molloy as the new principal for Fitzhugh Park Elementary School.
Ms. Molloy is currently the grades 7-12 principal for Cato-Meridian Central School District. Prior to that she served as Director of Special Education and Middle School principal at Sandy Creek CSD and as an assistant principal for the Rome City School District at Rome Free Academy.
Ms. Molloy will begin her tenure at Fitzhugh Park on July 5. As we approach the fall season the district will be planning a future meet and greet for parents and community members.

Buc Boosters congratulate senior scholar-athletes on a "job well done":
The Oswego Buc Boosters recently recognized senior scholar-athletes from the class of 2022 during an outdoor evening ceremony on the turf field at the high school athletic stadium. The annual event was organized by the Buc Boosters.
Sean Callen, president of the Buc Boosters, welcomed student athletes and their families with some opening remarks, noting how the COVID-19 pandemic put a damper on students’ ability to participate in the sports they love. Callen commended the seniors who stuck with their sport all the way to the end of their high school career.

Change for Ukraine: KPS Student Council holds fundraiser in partnership with Chertkovsky family:
It has been 111 days since Russia's war on Ukraine began.
KPS Student Council recently organized another fundraiser, this time in partnership with local residents Anton and Liubov Chertkovsky. Kindergarten students and student council members participated in a group song to perform for the Chertkovsky family and their KPS peers, "Peace like a River, Love like a Ocean, Joy like a Fountain."
Anton Chertkovsky was born in Odesa, Ukraine and moved to the U.S. in 1995 when he was just 8 years old, fleeing the dangers of antisemitism during the era of the Soviet Union. In recent years, Chertkovsky has settled in Oswego with his wife, Liubov, and their two kids and has been working as a physician’s assistant at an Oswego ...

It is with deep sorrow that I am writing to share that an Oswego Middle School student passed away Sunday morning after a car accident. At this time, we are not releasing the student’s name out of respect for the family and to ensure their privacy.
We are truly heartbroken and extend our sincere sympathy to his family and our entire OCSD community as we share in their grief.

Congratulations to the Top 100 Oswego High School students in grades 9-12 for the 2021-22 school year!
The top 25 of each class: freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, were recently honored for their academic achievements. Several of the top 100 students also have gone above and beyond throughout the school year to achieve greater success, including outside of the classroom with sports, music and the arts, and community service opportunities.

This afternoon, district officials learned of an alleged threat directed toward Oswego High School. Thanks to the work of school administration, the Oswego Police Department and our School Resource Officer team, we have deemed this threat to be not credible.
I wanted to make the community aware of this for transparency’s sake and to inform you all that there will be an increased law enforcement presence in some schools, especially OHS, as is standard practice after a threat of this nature -- credible or not.

OHS Dean of Students Morley shaves head for St. Baldrick's during spring pep rally:
On Thursday morning, Oswego High School hosted its winter and spring sports pep rally out on the turf field with a performance by the Oswego Marching Buccaneers Pep Band, a commemorative athletics slideshow, and the conclusion of OHS's St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraising efforts.
Oswego High School Dean of Students Penny Morley pledged that she would shave her head for St. Baldrick's Foundation if students raised more than $2,200 for charity this spring. Together, our Bucs raised over $2,400!
