Letter 1/23: Possible OMS threat deemed not credible

January 23, 2022

Dear Oswego City School District community,

On Friday, district officials learned of a possible threat directed toward Oswego Middle School. Thanks to work from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department and our School Resource Officer team throughout the weekend, we have deemed this threat to be not credible and our planned learning schedule will resume Monday with no interruption.

I wanted to make the community aware of this for transparency’s sake and inform you all there will be an increased police presence in some schools as is standard practice after a threat of this nature, credible or not.

We would like to thank the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department for their partnership and prompt response along with all they do to keep our learning community safe. Thank you for your time and please reach out to your child’s principal should you have any further questions or concerns.

Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
