Update 1/31: Facility use by outside organizations

Important Announcement - Facilities Usage Update

January 31, 2022

Dear Oswego City School District community,

Recently, the district enacted a temporary pause on the usage of our facilities by community organizations due to the recent sharp rise in community spread of COVID-19. With our data now showing that the surge is beginning to slow community-wide, we are pleased to announce that effective Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, we will be returning to our practice of allowing community groups to use our facilities.

Please know, while we are excited about reopening our facilities to our community, COVID-19 numbers continue to be a concern. Because of this, there will be added emphasis on safety procedures like mask-wearing and maintaining social distance for all groups.

While it is our hope and goal to continue to allow community groups to utilize our facilities, it is important to note that we are always evaluating district and local COVID-19 data. In addition, we continue to consult with our local health professionals and, if needed, may reimplement a pause on usage of our facilities based on local COVID-19 numbers.

As always, we continue to encourage proper mitigation techniques such as social distancing, wearing an appropriate facemask when necessary, staying home when feeling ill and proper hand hygiene.

Should any community organization have questions or concerns regarding these facility use updates, we encourage you to reach out to our Executive Director of Business and Finance, Nancy Squairs, at 315-341-2044.

Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
