Fitzhugh Park School Read-a-Thon Achieves Great Success

The Fitzhugh Park School Read-a-Thon was a success this year, thanks to the support of families and friends who donated to help students. The funds, totaling $5,921, will be used by the Home and School Association to provide students with special events, educational presenters, field trips, book fairs and more.

Students read a total of 51,948 minutes during the event. The top class in each grade with the most minutes read will receive a pizza party. The student with the highest number of minutes read, Juliet Baber, logged 5,569 minutes and will receive a gift card to The River’s End Bookstore. Classes that earned a pizza party include kindergarten: Heather Woods, first grade: Tim Barbeau, second grade: Nicole Freebern, third grade: Hannah Koster, fourth grade: Jessica Johnson, fifth grade: Alicia Hafner, sixth grade: Hazel Baber.

Fitzhugh Park thanks its students, teachers, and especially the families and friends who contributed to making this year’s Read-a-Thon a success.
