Minetto kindergarteners learn fire safety
Minetto Elementary School kindergartners recently enjoyed an exciting and educational morning during a special visit from the Minetto Fire Department in recognition of Fire Prevention Week. The event began in the school cafeteria, where Fire Chief Todd Heath and his crew greeted students for an engaging fire safety lesson. Chief Heath discussed essential safety rules — including how to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” if clothing ever catches fire — and guided students through practicing the steps together, turning an important safety skill into a fun, memorable activity.
Students also took part in a lively game called “Hot, Not Hot, and Sometimes Hot,” which helped them identify which objects are safe to touch and which ones can be dangerous. The interactive approach kept the kindergartners engaged while reinforcing everyday safety awareness.
Afterward, students headed outside to explore a fire truck. Firefighters gave a hands-on tour of the vehicle, showing the tools and equipment they use in emergencies and explaining how each item helps them protect the community. The young learners were especially thrilled to see the flashing lights, hoses and gear compartments up close.
The visit ended with smiles, high-fives and thank-yous from students and staff alike. The morning was both fun and educational, helping students build confidence, awareness and trust in their local first responders.
Minetto Elementary extends its sincere appreciation to Chief Heath and the entire Minetto Fire Department for their time, expertise and commitment to keeping the community safe.
