Frederick Leighton Elementary Honors Veterans with a School Assembly

Frederick Leighton Elementary School recently hosted a Veterans Day assembly in the school gymnasium to celebrate and honor members of all branches of the U.S. armed forces.

Students, families and community members were invited to attend the educational and engaging event, which featured an interview with teacher Jim Hartmann, who shared his personal experiences as a veteran.

“This is a tradition that keeps growing each year to honor our great American veterans,” said teacher Tom Wiegand, who served as emcee of the event. “We’re pleased to put on an event that goes the extra mile to show our gratitude to all of their sacrifices.”

Veterans in attendance were recognized with certificates of appreciation for their service. They also enjoyed doughnuts provided by the Dunkin’ Donuts on West Seneca Street and the FLS Home and School Association.
