Oswego Student Councils Launch “Pajamas for a Purpose” to Support Local Families

The Oswego City School District is marking National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with “Pajamas for a Purpose: Meals that Matter,” a districtwide effort to support local families with shelf-stable meals.

On Nov. 18, students may participate in Pajama Day by donating a shelf-stable food item assigned to their building or contributing $1. Student Council members will collect and organize donations.

“Our newly expanded OHS Student Council was eager to plan a project that could help address food insecurity in our community, " said OHS teacher Mary Koskowski, who serves as the director of student activities. “By partnering with the elementary and middle school councils, we turned a simple idea into a district-wide act of kindness that can touch even more lives.”

Student Council representatives from all schools will gather in the Oswego High School cafeteria to assemble “Meals in a Bag.” Each kit will include ingredients for a complete shelf-stable meal, a simple recipe card inspired by Dollar Tree Dinners, and a handwritten note or drawing.
Completed bags will be delivered to local food pantries.
