Oswego City School District Accepting Applications for Universal Pre-K Program

The Oswego City School District is accepting applications for Universal Pre-K classes for the 2026-27 school year.

The Pre-K program is free to all children residing within the district who turn four years old by Dec. 1, 2026.

There are eight half-day sessions and one full-day session. The half-day sessions are offered at Kingsford, Minetto, Fitzhugh and Riley elementary schools. The morning session runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the afternoon session runs from 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The full-day session runs from 9 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. at Frederick Leighton Elementary School.

Busing is available through the district on regular morning and afternoon bus runs. There is no midday busing.

The district has an online registration process this year. Visit the district website at oswego.org and click on Student Registration. Registration for half-day sessions continues through the fall. Registration for the full-day session continues until April 6 or until full. Proof of residency and a child’s recent physical are required for attendance.

An open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at each elementary school. Children may accompany parents but are not required to attend. The open house provides an opportunity to view classrooms and learn more about the UPK program.

The program offers a curriculum in accordance with New York state guidelines and aligned with the school district’s curriculum. It includes language arts, cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Learning is conducted through fun-filled and age-appropriate activities.

The program is offered in collaboration with First Step Universal Pre-K LTD. For more information, call 315-341-2012.
