Kingsford Park Student Council Spreads Kindness During February Break

Students from Kingsford Park School’s Student Council spent part of their February break spreading kindness in the community, visiting The Gardens Retirement Home to deliver handmade kindness cards and spend time with residents.

Students were welcomed with smiles and words of thanks as they engaged in conversations and shared stories with community members. What began as a card delivery quickly turned into meaningful exchanges that brightened the day for both students and residents.

“Today was a great reminder for all of us that little acts of kindness can make the world a better place,” said Kristyn Frost, a teacher at Kingsford Park School. “I felt very lucky to see the exchange of smiles on everyone’s faces.”

The visit reflects the core values of the Oswego City School District, including respect, caring and community connections. By listening to residents’ stories and offering thoughtful messages, students demonstrated empathy and compassion while strengthening ties between the school and the broader Oswego community.

The experience also highlighted collaboration and social-emotional well-being, as students worked together to organize the visit and witnessed firsthand how small gestures can have a lasting impact.
The February break initiative served as a reminder that learning extends beyond the classroom and that simple acts of kindness can help build a stronger, more connected community.
