Fitzhugh Park Students Honor Crossing Guards

Students and staff at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School recently came together to celebrate and recognize the school’s crossing guards during a special appreciation event organized by the Student Lighthouse Team. Students created handmade signs, thank-you notes, invitations and gift bags to express their gratitude for the crossing guards’ dedication and commitment to keeping students safe throughout the school year.

“The experience helped students see that leadership is not only about taking initiative, but also about recognizing and appreciating the contributions of others,” said Judy Osetek, a literacy teacher and a lighthouse team advisor for students at FPS.

As crossing guards arrived, they were greeted by cheering students and heartfelt messages of thanks.

The event reflected the Oswego City School District’s core values of safety and caring, recognizing those who help create a safe environment while demonstrating empathy, appreciation and support for members of the school community.
