As an Oswego City School District Employee, you have access to numerous resources and protections designed to support your health, your rights, and your professional standing.
 

Leave & Health Support

  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): Provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for qualified family and medical reasons, ensuring your health benefits remain intact.

  • Cancer Screening Leave: In accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, employees are entitled to up to four hours of paid leave annually for any type of cancer screening.

  • Sick Bank: A collaborative resource that allows eligible members to access additional sick leave days in the event of a prolonged, catastrophic, or personal illness.
     

Financial & Retirement Planning

  • Medicare (Parts A & B): Guidance on the transition to Medicare for employees approaching retirement, including how Medicare interacts with District health coverage.

  • Social Security: Resources for understanding your federal retirement, disability, and survivor benefits as they relate to your public service.

  • Workers' Compensation: Insurance providing medical care and/or cash benefits for employees who are injured or become ill as a direct result of their job.
